Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to read Britain's energy data, including people using a screen reader, keyboard navigation or magnification.
What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA.
In practice that means text that resizes, colour contrast that passes AA, controls reachable and operable by keyboard, visible focus, meaningful headings and labels, and alternatives to colour alone for meaning.
Charts and live data
Every chart is accompanied by the same figures in text, with units, source and observation time, so the information does not depend on reading a graphic.
Animation in the electricity flow diagram respects your operating-system reduced-motion setting.
Known limitations
Some dense data tables require horizontal scrolling on small screens.
Interactive chart tooltips are easier to use with a pointer than with a keyboard; the underlying figures are always available as text.
Reporting a problem
If something is hard to use, email info@energy.org.uk describing the page and what happened. Accessibility reports are treated with the same priority as data corrections.
